4 Day – 3 Night
Classes from public and private schools attend Outdoor School between the months of October and June. Students spend four days and three nights with participants from other schools and learn how to build a new sense of community by living in cabin groups together, hiking together, learning together, and eating together as a family.
Our objectives for students during their stay at The Outdoor School are:
- Students will gain knowledge of botany, geology, wildlife biology, astronomy, and Chumash history through experiential learning.
- Students will gain a new understanding of their place and responsibility in our environment through hands-on activities guided by the naturalists.
- Students will acquire teamwork skills through the course of their studies.
2 Day – 1 Night
Need a memorable experience for your class that is shorter and at a reduced cost? Outdoor School is proud to offer our 2 Day – 1 Night program. These programs operate during open weeks of outdoor school but can also run concurrently with the 4 day program.
Field Trip Day Program
Are you looking for an exciting and inspiring science field trip? Do your students thrive in a creative environment? Do your students crave hands-on activities?
If YES, then a field trip to The Outdoor School is perfect for you and your students. Our field trips are aligned with the California state standards for science. We can accommodate students K-12 in public; private, home, and family school settings. You can create an individualized schedule or you participate in the traditional day program (starts at 10:00am and ends at 2:30pm. Students have a half hour for a bagged lunch). Naturalists can cover a variety of science and outdoor-based topics based on requests. Day programs start at a price as low as $20 a student. Schools are responsible for bringing chaperones (at least one adult for every ten students), transportation and lunch (meal may be provided at extra cost).
