Woodland Discovery Summer Camp
Woodland Discovery Camp started in 2005 because of numerous requests from students of the Outdoor School to have a summer camp where they could come back to Rancho Alegre for another week of fun, learning, and exploration.
The last seven years of camp have been highly successful, Woodland Discovery Camp will return in 2012 during the week of June 18th-22nd, 2012 (M-F).
A wide range of exciting adventures include old favorites like the Waterfall and 9 Mile Hikes along with summer only additions such as Lake Cachuma Boat Rides, Overnight Campouts trips, and Aquatic Olympics. The pool will also be open each day for swimming!
The camp is open to students 10-13 years of age. Youth between 14 and 15 can apply to become Cabin Leaders in Training by sending an essay explaining why they wish to be a CIT and which session(s) they wish to attend. Send a written essay to the Education Director by email (educationdirector@theoutdoorschool.org) or by post--Attn: Education Director, Woodland Discovery Camp, 2680 Hwy 154 Santa Barbara, CA 93105.
The student fee is $430 with camp shirt + water bottle and includes cabin accommodation along with three meals per day and an afternoon snack. The staff will consist of The Outdoor School naturalists along with an "all-star" cast of cabin leaders from the school year.
CITS: $300 for one week session (includes camp t-shirt & CPR/First Aid certification)--limited availability (only 15 males and 15 females selected for each session).
